My name is Jason Francis. I grew up in High Springs and graduated from the University of Florida in 2005. My wife and I eventually moved to Trinidad and Tobago, where in 2009 I started a small meat business called Blooms Imports. Over the years, that business grew into two retail locations and a food service distribution operation supplying restaurants, hotels, and food service customers throughout Trinidad and several other Caribbean markets.

Over 15 years in the food industry, I’ve built a wide and efficient cold chain supplier network throughout Florida and the Southeast. My team and I watch protein and dairy prices weekly so we can buy ahead of price swings and supply shortages — and pass that planning on to our customers.

Last year, my parents retired after 25 years running the deli at Ginnie Springs. As small restaurant operators in Gilchrist County, they always struggled with supply costs. Watching my father drive south to buy from my suppliers just to save on his Sysco and Cheney Brothers bill made the opportunity clear.

I’ve partnered with two close friends from Santa Fe High School to start Francis Foods. We’re reaching out directly to restaurant owners and food service operators to understand where we can help — starting right here in Alachua County.
